OTERO COUNTY, Colo. — The Otero County Sheriff's Office and several other agencies resumed their search on Friday morning for a man who went missing in the Arkansas River near La Junta.
The sheriff's office started the search Wednesday for Devlin Cambeul, 19, Otero County Sheriff Shawn Mobley posted to Facebook.
The La Junta Fire Department, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were assisting in the search. The search included personnel, boats, aircraft and drones into Bent County, Mobley said.
On Friday afternoon, Mobley posted a video to Facebook giving an update on the search. Crews had not yet found Cambeul and had to suspend the search for the day due to severe weather in the area.
People were asked to avoid the Arkansas River in the North La Junta area, the sheriff's office posted on Facebook.
Mobley reminded residents that the river runs high this time of year and is much faster than it appears. He asked the public to stay out of the river for everyone's safety.
Wednesday morning, La Junta Fire rescued another person from the river in an unrelated call, the sheriff's office said.
