BRIGHTON, Colo. — A child was not injured after accidentally getting locked inside of a gun safe used by law enforcement at Prairie View High School Friday afternoon.
There were no guns inside the safe at the time, according to Brighton Fire spokesperson Natalie Ridderbos. It’s unclear if the child belonged to an employee at the school or someone else.
Ridderbos said movers were at the school for the gun safes and the door was open, causing the child to get locked inside.
Brighton police officers were ultimately able to get the boy out.
It’s not known how long the child was locked inside the safe.
Prairie View High School is located near East 120th Avenue and Peoria Street.
