DENVER – Authorities say it will probably be a while before they know what caused an explosion that left extensive damage to a garden-level apartment Tuesday afternoon and prompted road closures near the Colorado State Capitol.
It happened at around 3:30 p.m. at 429 East 14th Ave., an apartment a spokesperson for the Denver Fire Department says was occupied by a woman, who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A dog had to be rescued from the floor above where the explosion occurred, but is expected to make a full recovery.
Firefighters say the explosion busted out windows and collapsed a non-load bearing wall inside the apartment.
