CASTLE ROCK, Colo — Investigators are working to determine what started a house fire that killed a 53-year-old woman Tuesday afternoon in Castle Rock.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue said they got a call about the fire near the intersection of Lewis and Sixth streets just before 1 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters were told there might be a person trapped in the basement, where the fire was burning.
The victim, later identified as Isabella Kaauwai, was taken to the hospital where she died.
The fire was contained at 1:17 p.m., the fire department said. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
