DENVER — ‘Twas the night before Christmas at Empower Field.
“Ho, ho, ho, go Broncos,” the man in red squealed.
“I planned ahead this year,” said Santa. “As soon as I saw the Broncos had a Christmas Eve game, I went to the elves and said, ‘Look work hard, work early and get all the gifts ready to go so I can go to the game. Then as soon as we’re done, I’m going to get in my sleigh, get the heck out of here and I’ll take care of business no problem.’”
Orange and blue flags hung with care, in hopes that a victory would soon be there.
“I’d be willing to chip in if they really needed it but I don’t think they need it,” said Santa talking about the Denver Broncos ahead of their game against the New England Patriots.
The fans were all nestled, their faces painted bold.
“One side orange, one side blue,” said Broncos fan Kelly Weimer.
With visions of touchdowns and victories untold.
“Santa, all I want for Christmas is a Broncos win,” said Kevin Weimer.
Even The Grinch in all green, from his head to his toes. Has his jersey on wearing Broncos clothes.
“Go Broncos,” shouted The Grinch.
“I am a veteran tailgater, so we know what to bring,” said Santa.
Santa sprang from the tent and looked all around. It’s time to head in and see a Broncos touchdown.
As he walked toward the stadium ready for a good fight. Santa yelled, "Happy game day to all, and to all a good night!"
Santa, who also goes by the name Bill Siegel, said he’s been a Broncos fan for decades. “You know the Bronco reminds me of my reindeer, so there’s a natural affinity there,” he said. “It just sort of became natural.”
The big man in red has season tickets, and sometimes invites the elves.
“It’s like a reward program for our employees at the north pole,” said Santa. “The ones that do the very best get to come with me to the game.”
