BRIGHTON, Colo. — A student was in custody after a gun was found in their bag Thursday afternoon at Brighton High School, according to police.
Brighton Police said that about 12:30 p.m., administrators at the high school received a report of a student in possession of a firearm.
Two Brighton Police school resource officers were at the school at the time and immediately contacted the student, who was found to have a firearm in his bag.
The student was taken into custody. The school was put on secure perimeter while officers investigated. No students or staff were hurt, police said.
Brighton Police said it is investigating where the student got the gun and the potential involvement of other students.
