BOULDER – Boulder Fire Chief Larry Donner announced Wednesday that he will retire effective Oct. 17 after 23 years in the position – and 43 years in fire service.
He began his career with the Fort Collins Fire Department in 1971, and become Boulder's fire chief in 1991.
"It has truly been an honor to serve such an amazing community, and I will treasure the many friends and relationships built here," Donner said in a news release. "Thank you for an amazing career as Boulder's fire chief, and for your continued support of Boulder Fire and Rescue."
Boulder City Manager Jane Brautigam will be working with the fire and city human resources departments to find Donner's replacements, according to a news release.
