BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Plans to remove seats at the historic Glen Huntington Bandshell in Boulder could affect the city's plans for $8.7 million in improvements to the downtown Civic Area.
The seats were considered a contributing feature when the bandshell was designated a historic landmark in 1995.
While the Landmarks Board has approved allowing the bandshell's seats to be removed, the city council asked the board to reconsider that decision in light of new information about the seats.
Council members also want to seek an opinion from History Colorado on how removing the seats would affect the bandshell's eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places.
The Boulder Daily Camera reports that phased construction on the park elements is scheduled to start this spring and last 12 to 18 months.
