CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Emergency responders worked their way up to a group caught in an avalanche Saturday afternoon, the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said.
The slide along the southeast-facing bowl of Hagar Peak near Loveland Pass was reported around 10:30 a.m. by a friend of the group. The area on the north side of Interstate 70 is known as Dry Gulch, the Alpine Rescue Team said.
The sheriff's office said four people in the group were partially buried before they self-extracted. At least one person had a leg injury, and they all lost their ski poles, but no life-threatening injuries were suffered.
Alpine Rescue Team worked its way up to the group, and exited around mile marker 216 on I-70 near Loveland Pass where the party was evaluated by paramedics before being released.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said a total of six people were caught in three different avalanches in Colorado on Saturday. None suffered serious injuries.
