AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire near East 6th Avenue and Chambers Road late Monday.
At about 10:30 p.m., firefighters were called out to a multi-family home in the 700 block of North Fraser Street, according to Aurora Fire. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy fire that engulfed the two-story three-plex building.
According to Aurora Fire, the fire damaged all three units and displaced 14 adults and six children. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Aurora Fire said. The American Red Cross is assisting the victims.
The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
Residents are urged to prioritize fire safety by creating a home escape plan that includes identifying multiple exit routes from each room, Aurora Fire said.
