AURORA, Colo. — One of the state's largest health systems is bringing a nursing school to town.
Galen College of Nursing will offer programs in Aurora starting this summer, the organization said Tuesday. Owned by HealthOne's parent company HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA), Galen has 20 campuses in 10 states in addition to online options, according to a news release.
The new facility at 3190 S. Vaughn Way is an answer to the current shortage of nurses, particularly those who are new to the profession, Galen and HealthOne said in the release. It is enrolling now for a three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and a two-year Associate Degree in Nursing.
A Galen spokesperson said the campus anticipates enrollment of 200 students in 2024 and 360 in 2025. Until now, he said Galen did not have a physical presence in the Denver market.
Jennifer Broekema, vice president of clinical education at HealthOne, said in a statement that the programs will help to feed a much-needed pipeline of new nurses and offer continuing education.
