15-year-old with developmental disabilities found safe

The teen went missing Sunday in Aurora. He was found safe Monday afternoon.

AURORA, Colo. — Authorities said that a 15-year-old with developmental disabilities who was last seen leaving his home in Aurora on Sunday night was found safe on Monday

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued an endangered missing alert for the teen on Monday morning. The teen had left his home about 6:50 p.m. Sunday near East 6th Avenue and North Laredo Street and had last been seen in the area of Chambers Road and East Montview Blvd.

Police said the boy has a developmental disability, functions at a 6-year-old level and requires medications.

Aurora Police sent a reverse 911 alert to a large portion of east Aurora to alert residents to be on the lookout for the teen. Police asked for people in the area of Chambers and Montview to check their yards, sheds and buildings.

About 12:30 p.m. Monday, CBI said the teen was located and was safe.
