According to deputies, the victim, identified as 53-year-old John Kirby, was hit by a distracted driver while riding eastbound on Hess Road near Double Angle Road.
Young told investigators that just before the crash happened, her cell phone -- which was connected to the stereo system of her car -- started ringing, according to an arrest affidavit.
She said she didn't answer her phone, but became distracted when she "looked down to push the off button on the vehicle's stereo system," the affidavit says.
That's when investigators say Young drifted onto the right shoulder of the road and hit Kirby, who died on the scene.
Young stayed and cooperated with investigators, according to the affidavit.
