LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A 7-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert Monday has been found safe.

Police said the boy was abducted from an apartment in Lakewood shortly after 6 a.m. by Crystal Denmon, 26. The Amber Alert was canceled just before 4 p.m.

Lakewood Police were called to the apartment in the 1700 block of Kendall Street and found a man who had been shot at least once. They also discovered the man's child was missing.

Police said they believe Denmon is the suspect in that shooting and that she took the child. Denmon and the boy are not related, police said.

Police said Denmon has been taken into custody.

A shelter in place was issued for the area of the apartment complex after the shooting Monday morning. At the time, police had described the incident as a domestic dispute.

The man who was shot is in the hospital being treated for his injuries. It's not clear how he and Denmon know each other.
