Adams County Sheriff's Office deputy provides motel room for family of four

A senior deputy from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office recently went above and beyond to make sure a family had a safe place to spend the night.

Senior Deputy Mesch and Deputy Boom found a pickup truck and camper parked in a dirt lot near 55th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard, according to a post on the sheriff's office's Facebook page. The family of four inside, including two small children, were visiting from California.

They told the duo they had no place else to go, and Mesch said to stay the night but leave in the morning.

A little bit later, both deputies removed two people they say were making trouble at a nearby motel. Mesch asked the motel management if they could put up the family for the night as a favor.

But the motel said they could not do so for free.

So Mesch paid for a motel room for the night out of his own pocket. He drove back to the dirt lot and told the family a motel room was open at no cost to them.
