April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.
In Jefferson County, a group dedicated to protecting kids from abuse and helping them stay on the right side of the law has its own district attorney.
There is a fulltime prosecutor at the Ralston House, which acts as a safe environment where investigators and social workers can talk to children about the abuse they’ve experienced.
The hope in having a prosecutor is to get help with cases at the child advocacy center before they go to court.
Christian Gardner-Wood, a deputy district attorney with the Jefferson County DA’s Office, joined us on 9NEWS at 4 p.m. to talk about the Ralston House.
