DENVER — Chris Bianchi has been named the new 9NEWS Impact Weather Team meteorologist on 9NEWS Mornings.
Bianchi replaces Ed Greene, who announced his retirement after a 47-year career in Denver television and radio that included stints at KUSA, KMGH, KCNC and KOA Radio. Greene had been a part of 9NEWS Mornings since 2021.
During his 9NEWS on-air goodbye, Greene officially passed his weather clicker to Bianchi, wishing him good luck in the new role.
"Congrats to Ed Greene on a legendary 47 year career in Denver weather, including the last four at 9NEWS," Bianchi said. "If anyone deserves retirement, it's Ed, an institution in Denver weather. Big shoes to fill, but I'm excited to be on 9NEWS weekday mornings."
Bianchi joined 9NEWS in 2021. Before 9NEWS, Bianchi worked for Spectrum Networks as a meteorologist for their app.
Bianchi worked as a meteorologist for WeatherNation for six years, and he also wrote weather articles for "The Denver Post," "The Washington Post," "The Boston Herald" and the "St. Paul Pioneer Press."
In addition to his meteorological duties, Bianchi served as the voice of the University of Denver’s men’s and women’s soccer teams for several years. He also wrote about Colorado politics for "Westword."
He holds a Broadcasters’ Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association, and he’s also a broadcast ambassador for the American Meteorological Society’s Committee for Hispanic and Latinx Advancement.
Originally from Connecticut, Bianchi graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 2009 and received his certification in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2012.
Bianchi enjoys running, soccer, skiing, candy and his corgi, Penny, whom you’ll see frequently on his social media.
