9NEWS crew rescues 2 people left stranded by Colorado blizzard

Reporter Liz Kotalik and her photographer came upon the stranded vehicle near Roggen. The people inside had been stuck for six hours due to the Colorado blizzard.

ROGGEN, Colo. — Many roads on the eastern plains remain closed due to the winter storm that hit the state on Wednesday. They include major roadways such as Interstate 76. Interstate 70 was closed but reopened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

9NEWS reporter Liz Kotalik and photojournalist Matt Bell headed to the eastern part of the state Thursday morning and found snow covered roadways and very low visibility and at least one stuck vehicle.

While on the way to Wiggins they came across a vehicle in Roggen that had been stuck in a ditch for about six hours. Liz, Matt, and another Good Samaritan worked together to pull them out and help them get back on their way.  Matt found a band in the live truck and was able to hook it up to the car, while the other Good Samaritan provided a mat to help with traction.
