BOULDER, Colo. — A 90-year-old woman died Wednesday after being hit by a car as she crossed the street in Boulder, police said.
Police said they were investigating the fatal crash that happened around 9:18 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway Street and Alpine Avenue.
They said a 35-year-old woman driving a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was driving south along Broadway Street when she turned left onto Alpine Avenue and hit the woman, who was walking north across the crosswalk on Alpine Avenue.
The driver was not injured and remained on the scene of the crash, police said. There were two children in her car who were also uninjured.
Police said there's no initial evidence that the driver was speeding or impaired when the crash happened.
The woman who was hit was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and police said she died at the hospital. On Thursday, the Boulder County Coroner's Office identified her as Virginia Knowlton.
Witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw anything leading up to the crash, are asked to contact Boulder Officer Coon at 720-626-9749 or email coonse@bouldercolorado.gov and reference case #24-0057.
