4 children reported missing in June found safe

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said on Oct. 17, the children's father dropped them off at a family member's house in Louisiana.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo — Four siblings who were reported missing after their father did not return them to their foster care home in June have been found safe in Louisiana, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the children were living in a foster care home and their father, Howard Myles, had a weekend visit with them, per court order. He picked them up on June 30 and was supposed to return them on July 2, but did not, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators said in July that they believed Myles took the children and their mother, Clarissa Gardette, was with them as well. Gardette has supervised visits only, the sheriff's office said. Both parents were wanted on warrants for violation of custody orders.

"The children are believed to be in immediate danger due to a history of neglect, child abuse, drugs, domestic violence, weapons charges and previous dangerous situations they have been placed in," the sheriff's office said in July.

Gardette was taken into custody in Houston in July, the sheriff's office said. She is currently in custody at the Arapahoe County jail.

The sheriff's office said on Oct. 17, Myles dropped the children off at a family member's house in Louisiana. The children, ages 4 to 9, were brought back to Colorado earlier this week by child protective services, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies are still searching for Myles, who they said has active warrants for his arrest. They said he was last seen in the Port Allen, Louisiana area on Oct. 17.
