DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colorado — Lightning struck near a group of climbers and their dog causing injuries Sunday afternoon near Devil's Head in the Chicken Head Ranch rock climbing area, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Three adults were injured in the group of eight climbers, all were conscious, breathing and talking after the incident, said Cocha Heyden with Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Seven climbers were able to walk out of the area, one person was evacuated with lightning strike injuries using a litter carry, and transported to the hospital, Douglas County Search and Rescue said in a tweet.
Search and rescue was assisting the Jackson 105 Fire Department, Heyden said.
