2 El Paso County deputies injured in crash

The Colorado State Patrol said their patrol car was T-boned as they turned around to pursue a speeding car Saturday.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Two sheriff's deputies were taken to the hospital after a crash in El Paso County Saturday morning.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), a sheriff's patrol car carrying two El Paso County deputies was heading west on Highway 24 near Ramah just before 9 a.m. when the deputies saw a speeding car coming from the opposite direction.

CSP said the patrol car was making a u-turn to go after the speeding car when another vehicle that had been traveling behind the deputies T-boned them. 

Both deputies had serious injuries, but they are expected to survive, according to CSP.

CSP said they're still investigating the crash but it appears that the driver of the patrol car was at fault.
