LITTLETON, Colo. — One man has died and another was taken to the hospital after an incident at Chatfield Reservoir Saturday afternoon.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said a call came in just before 3:30 p.m. of two swimmers who had fallen off an innertube. CPW rangers pulled one of them from the water, and he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two dive teams from South Metro responded, as well as CPW's Marine Evidence Recovery Team, to look for the second person. The man was found underwater at around 4:30 p.m. by South Metro divers and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

CPW said the two men, both 28 years old, had drifted away from the innertube in the strong winds. The boat accompanying them tried to go after them, but its engine wouldn't start.

Neither of them was wearing a flotation device.
