DENVER —
From fears about getting sick to nurses saying they have to reuse protective equipment, dozens of healthcare workers are sharing their concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the online survey is not scientific, it’s helping us tell 9NEWS viewers about what healthcare workers are dealing with at hospitals across Colorado.
Some of the submissions are impossible to verify because many doctors and nurses said they can’t reveal who they are out of fear of losing their jobs.
Of those who responded, 79% said they don’t have enough equipment like masks and ventilators.
Meanwhile, 51% said their hospital does not have enough room for COVID-19 patients.
“I think most of us millennial physicians are less worried about ourselves getting sick, we have basically accepted it's going to happen at some point," One new doctor wrote. "We are worried about the people around us that will be affected by us becoming sick who are more at risk."
Another nurse said she was forced to reuse protective equipment and fears she has the virus.
“I was possibly exposed this week. Having some of the symptoms. I am getting tested…,” she wrote.
A vast majority of respondents expressed concerns about having to reuse equipment and bringing the virus home to family.
