DENVER - Most dog owners can relate: choosing just the right name for your pup can be tricky.
Turns out though, there are two names that stand above the rest in Colorado: Bella and Buddy.
According to research gathered by I-NEWS at Rocky Mountain PBS, there are 1,481 dogs named Bella along the Front Range. Other common female dog names are Lucy, Molly and Daisy.
The name Bella became widely popular several years ago by Bella Swan, the lead character in the book series and blockbuster hit "Twilight." Bella also means 'beautiful' in Italian.
For nearly every "Bella," there is a "Buddy" to match. According to the data gathered, the name Buddy was ranked the most popular male dog name along the Front Range, with 1,248. Max, Charlie, Bear, Peyton and Elway were also ranked popular male dog names in Colorado.
The research was compiled in Denver, Jefferson County, El Paso County, Colorado Springs, Centennial, and Aurora.
