An 117-year-old home in Denver's University Park neighborhood is for sale, but the owners love the neighborhood so much, they're only moving next door.
Built in 1902, the home at 2181 S. Clayton St. has a rich history starting as a wedding gift, only being handed over to new owners four times throughout the years and ending up with a $2 million renovation to modernize the home and extend its future.
In 2008, owners David H. Keyte, currently chairman and chief executive officer of Denver-based Caerus Oil and Gas, and wife Mary Anne, undertook a 20-month restoration and remodel. Taking it down to the studs, the home was rebuilt with new plumbing, electricity and insulation and previous additions were reincorporated to fit the design.
"The intent was not only to architecturally restore the house to match its Denver square roots, but to install new infrastructure throughout to prepare it for the next 100 years," Keyte told listing agents Kristen Crabtree and Scott Kirkegaard of Frontgate Realty Group.
The family purchased the home in 1994 for $707,000, listed it for $3.5 million in April and recently dropped the asking price to $3.25 million.
