Broomfield teens can trade vaping device for rec center pass on Monday

Teens who ditch their vape pen can get a 3-month rec pass in exchange during an event in Broomfield on Monday night.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Broomfield residents under the age of 18 can trade in their vaping paraphernalia for a three-month recreation center pass during an event on Monday. 

The City of Broomfield's 'Hand It In Program' is aimed at urging teens to quit vaping and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. The event will be held June 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. a the Paul Derda Recreation Center.

According to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year, Colorado high schoolers are vaping or using e-cigarette products at twice the national average. 

“No questions and no judgment, just drop off your vape and pick up your pass,” an announcement on the city's website reads.

The Paul Derda Recreation Center is located at 13201 Lowell Boulevard in Broomfield.
