GUNNISON COUNTY, Colo. — Officials in Gunnison County said Tuesday they hope to launch wastewater testing within the next week through BioBot to help them understand the magnitude of the coronavirus with the community over time.
BioBot, according to its website, analyzes sewage to map population health among communities, such as counties, states or cities.
As of Tuesday morning, 79 people in Gunnison County had tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel form of the coronavirus which was first found in China in late 2019. One person in Gunnison County died. Data from the county showed as of Tuesday morning, the hospital was operating at 17% capacity, including non-respiratory patients.
Health officials in Gunnison County said the data would not be specific to individuals but would help them understand where they are on the curve. They said they're also looking at ways to build data to help with decision-making in the future.

The county is also residents to track their symptoms and how they last. They fill out a form online with that information.
