DENVER — Two Black Hawk helicopters landed outside of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday afternoon.
The choppers were carrying members of the Colorado National Guard team, who were coming to downtown Denver to survey the field hospital being built at the Colorado Convention Center.

Citing recent data, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) said it may scale down construction at the Colorado Convention Center’s hospital and the Ranch complex in Larimer County.
These hospitals were meant to serve COVID-19 patients who had been discharged from intensive care but still need hospitalization. Previously, Colorado health officials said the Colorado Convention Center could have the capacity for 2,000 beds.
Gov. Jared Polis (D-Colorado) said Monday that at this point, Colorado’s hospital capacity remains capable of treating patients with the novel coronavirus.
Polis said officials are still planning to lift the statewide stay-at-home order on April 26. Denver’s mayor said its version could be in place longer.
President Donald Trump has enacted federal measures until April 30.
