WELD COUNTY — Getting stuck is never fun. Getting stuck in a cattle guard is downright uncomfortable.
That’s what happened to an unlucky cow in Weld County on Wednesday morning, prompting a response from Greeley firefighters and animal control officers.
All four of the cow’s feet somehow got stuck in the cattle guard. The Greeley Fire Department posted several videos of the all-hands-on-deck rescue effort to Twitter.
Fire crews utilized specially made harnesses and hardware to assist in the removal of the animal.
Some nearby oil field workers even jumped in to help by operating the front loader that lifted the cow to safety, the sheriff’s office said.
The cow was eventually freed, and probably has a newfound sense of freedom.
A veterinarian at the scene confirmed that the animal only had minor abrasions and fatigue due to getting stuck.
Great work, everyone!
