Colorado Heights University, located on the historic Loretta Heights campus in southwest Denver, will close in late 2017, the university announced Tuesday.
CHU President Fred Van Liew said the campus will continue to operate normally and current students will still receive credits, but the non-profit university will no longer accept new students, effective immediately.
"We will be focusing our efforts to help our students complete their programs here at CHU or at other institutions," he said.
According to the statement, CHU's primary reason for closing is due to a recent decision by the U.S. Department of Education to deny recognition of the accrediting authority of the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
