A 15-year-old student has been arrested for allegedly posting a message on social media that led to the closure of schools in a small district east of Colorado Springs.

The Gazette reports that the teen was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of influencing a public official, a felony, and interfering with an educational institution, a misdemeanor.

Classes were canceled in Ellicott School District 22 Monday after the teen allegedly warned students not to go to school that day through the After School app.

The app is targeted at teens as a way to post their feelings, experiences and secrets while remaining anonymous. However, users are required to sign up using their Facebook account.

El Paso County Sheriff Sergeant Cliff Porter says founder Cory Levy shared information necessary to identify the person who posted.
