FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A special education teacher in the Poudre School District received a nice surprise Friday morning in Fort Collins. Jayme Harper received a $6,500 gift from Ent Credit Union while she was teaching her students about financial wellness, the fundamentals of credit and budgeting basics.
Harper is a teacher in Poudre School District's Transition Pathways Program and works with special needs students.
A colleague nominated Harper citing the passion she has for her job and students. Harper's colleague added she presents her students the skills necessary to succeed beyond the classroom.
Harper's nomination reads:
"The care and enthusiasm she exuded was indisputable. It was clear how deeply passionate she is about providing her students with the tools necessary to thrive in life and her students absolutely adore her. You can absolutely feel the care that the group all has for each other. Ent is not the first to recognize this, as she was recently nominated for a Mary Hull award by the Poudre School District, which are given to recognize those who put immense effort into supporting students with disabilities. Finding a good teacher is common, but the lengths to which Mrs.H goes for her students is nonpareil."
The gift was part of Ent Credit Union's Gifts for Teachers program.
