Colorado State University President Tony Frank is stepping down in his role as president and will serve full-time as the school's chancellor instead, according to a news release from the university.
Frank has been serving in a dual role since 2015 as the president and chancellor. He will transition into just the chancellor role of the three-campus university system beginning in July of next year.
In the meantime, CSU's Board of Governor's will launch a national search for the university's new president, the school said.
This will be Frank's 11th year serving as the university's president and fifth as chancellor. He'll stay in both roles until July 1, 2019.
The press release from the school thanked Frank for his tenure as president and touted many accomplishments, including record levels of enrollment and a dramatic increase of alumni support and donations.
Board of Governors Chair Rico Munn said in the release that he believes the university system will benefit from having Frank full-time in the chancellor role. He said the university needs a person full-time in the position now more than ever, citing the development of a new National Western Center as part of the focus.
The board will announce the details of the nationwide search for a president in the coming weeks.
