Broomfield High School dismissed early after threats reported to Safe2Tell

The Boulder Valley School District said it received several Safe2Tell reports about a possible threat to the school.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Broomfield High School was dismissed early Thursday due to a threat reported to Safe2Tell, the Boulder Valley School District said on Twitter.

The district received a number of Safe2Tell reports Thursday morning about a possible threat to the school, the district said.

Around 12:30 p.m. students were asked to leave campus and shortly before 1:30 p.m., Broomfield police said the school had been cleared.

The district said it was working with the Broomfield Police Department but had been unable to determine the credibility of the threat. Despite that, after consultation with law enforcement, the district dismissed students with law enforcement support.

There was never a lockdown at the school, a spokesperson for the district said. He also said based on the information they had, law enforcement and the district decided it was best to evacuate the school.

No other schools were impacted, Broomfield police said in a tweet.

Students who walk or drive home were allowed to do so under police supervision. All after school activities at the school have been canceled for the day, the district said.

Those who are typically bused were taken to their normal bus stops. Those who needed to be picked up by parents after school were taken Broomfield United Methodist Church, which is located at 545 West 10th Avenue.
