DENVER — The Denver City Council voted Monday to adopt the Stadium District Master Plan, which is aimed at creating a new neighborhood hub where the south parking lots currently are at the Broncos Stadium.
The plan was inspired by the development surrounding Coors Field, according to a news release from Denver Community Planning and Development (CPD).
CPD says more than 1,300 residents, businesses and property owners in surrounding neighborhoods weighed in on the proposal, which was a collaboration between the Metropolitan Football Stadium District and Stadium Management Football Club – an affiliate of the Denver Broncos.
The mixed-use development would prioritize affordable housing, according to the news release, and emphasize accessibility by pedestrians and bicyclists.
According to CPD, the goal of the plan is also to have a festival street that can be used on game days.
