KUSA - Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather is tackling a new topic , the dark side of International Adoption.

Rather has been working on a two-hour investigative special on AXS-TV called Unwanted in America-The Shameful Side of International Adoption.

Around 250,000 children have been adopted into the U.S. over the past 15 years, but experts estimate that as many as 10 percent of the international adoptions could be ending in failure.

Rather found that many of the adopted children are cast off into an underground network of internet chat rooms by adoptive parents who have changed their minds.

Rather talks with 9NEWS mornings about the special.
