LAKEWOOD - A woman - who faked cancer for six years and obtained more than $58,000 in donations - was sentenced to eight years in prison after failing to comply with her probation terms.

During her probation, Ann Crall allegedly forged letters and falsified documents from her employer to her probation officer. In those documents, she allegedly tried to mislead and influence the probation officer from taking actions against her for her failure to comply with her probation conditions.

Crall told people she was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and was starting treatment, but there was no evidence to support that she ever had cancer.

Crall took charitable contributions for cancer treatments from January 2006 to December 2008, according to the First Judicial District Attorney. Donations of money and food came from her friends, neighbors, church members and several of her husband's co-workers from the Lakewood Police Department.

Several fundraisers were also held on Crall's behalf, and more than 1,000 donations were made to the family. The DA says Crall was indicted for taking almost $60,000 from donors.

Crall has seven total prior convictions for crimes including drug distribution and possession, theft, forgery and fraud.
