Woman driving Dodge Caravan struck and killed pedestrian before driving away, police say

A man died in the crash on June 25 near East Colfax Avenue and Ogden Street in Denver. The car has been found, but not the driver.

DENVER — Denver Police are looking for a woman they said hit a man - stopped briefly - and then drove away from the fatal crash scene. The car she was driving has been located, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The crash was reported on June 25 at about 11:15 a.m. near East Colfax Avenue and Ogden Street in Denver.  A Medina Alert was issued Tuesday morning and deactivated late Tuesday afternoon.

According to that alert, the woman was driving a 2016 Dodge Caravan with a Montana license plate. The vehicle had plate number 2-99798B. CBI reported that the car had been found just after 4 p.m.

The alert says the woman ran over the man who died from his injuries. Police provided photos of the driver involved. They said the woman was wearing a pink tank top and sunglasses at the time of the crash. She has still not been found.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to either call 911 or the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000.

Medina Alerts were signed into law on March 25, 2014, and went into effect on Dec. 30, 2014. They’re named for Jose Medina, a 21-year-old valet driver who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in 2011.

Medina Alerts are issued following hit-and-run crashes where someone is seriously hurt or killed. Law enforcement also must have sufficient information about the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle, such as a license plate number and the vehicle’s make, style and color.
