AURORA, Colo. — A woman who died following a shooting Monday morning in Aurora has been identified as 67-year-old Mae Rose Garth, according to a report from the coroner's office.
The shooting was reported at 641 North Potomac Street, just north of 6th Avenue, around 9:45 a.m., according to a tweet from the Aurora Police Department (APD).
APD said Garth was found inside an apartment with a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment. She later died.
A 41-year-old man, later identified as Mae's son, Tyron, was taken into custody at the scene. Police arrested Tyron Garth for suspicion of first-degree murder
"It's not necessarily a domestic violence incident," said Matthew Longshore, a spokesperson for APD. "But they are related. They are family members."
Longshore said they there's no threat to the public.
