Woman convicted in hash oil explosion that injured 3

A 54-year-old woman has been found guilty of allowing two men to manufacture marijuana concentrate in her home, causing a hash oil explosion that left both of them severely injured and a 7-year-old boy with minor injuries.

GREELEY – A 54-year-old woman has been found guilty of allowing two men to manufacture marijuana concentrate in her home, causing a hash oil explosion that left both of them severely injured and a 7-year-old boy with minor injuries.

Lavonne Bessler's home in Carr exploded on Aug. 11, 2013. Bessler was not home when the explosion happened, but she was charged with knowingly allowing others to manufacture hash oil on her property.

The Weld County District Attorney's Office says Bessler was a licensed medical marijuana caregiver, and admitted to taking part in hash oil extraction at her home in the past.

She has been convicted of processing or manufacturing marijuana or marijuana concentrate, a class four felony. She faces up to six years in prison.

Her sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

A separate trial is scheduled for one of her co-defendants. The other failed to appear in court and has an arrest warrant.
