DENVER — A man and woman who were sought on charges of first-degree murder in connection with a shooting last week in the Denver Tech Center have been arrested, according to a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department (DPD).

Mark Howard, 34, and Roxanne Rodriguez-Hernandez, 24, were both wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred inside an apartment in the 7500 block of Technology Way on Feb. 19, according to DPD.

Both suspects were arrested for investigation of first-degree murder and investigation of first-degree assault.

They're accused of entering an apartment and exchanging gunfire with an occupant of the apartment. One victim, 26-year-old Marquis Johnson was killed and another adult male victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police found one victim at a 7-Eleven at South Havana Street and East Iliff Avenue in Aurora. That victim had been shot in the leg and has since been released from the hospital, DPD said.

Howard was also shot and during the exchange of gunfire and was taken by private vehicle to an area hospital following the shooting, police said. He later fled the hospital while the homicide investigation was ongoing, according to DPD.

DPD said the suspects were taken into custody late Friday night.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story had a different identity for the male suspect. Denver police said Howard had gone to great lengths to assume the identity of another person who is not connected to this incident. Through their investigation, detectives were able to learn Howard's true identity. A photo of the suspect released by police that was previously used in this article was also incorrect, according to DPD.
