Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies say a stabbing witness held the suspect at gun point until authorities arrived Friday night.

At 8:57 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Rist Canyon Road and Larimer County Road 23E Belluvue. It was reported that a woman was stabbed in the neck and hands.

An investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were traveling in a vehicle when an argument started. The victim pulled over and exited the vehicle to call 911 when the suspect attacked her with the knife.

The suspect was still in the area and one witness to the incident held the suspect at gunpoint while he was on the phone with emergency operators.

Once deputies arrived the man, identified Evan Shockley, became combative. A stun gun was used on him and a struggle ensued before he was taken into custody.

The victim had serious bodily injuries but the injuries were not life threatening. Shockley was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries then booked into the Larimer County Jail.

He faces first-degree assault and resisting arrest charges.
