WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — Wheat Ridge Police on Friday said they found the vehicle believed to be used in the fatal shooting of a business owner this week.
Police are still searching for a suspect in a shooting Wednesday near 38th Avenue and Teller Street. Peter Damian Arguello was shot and killed around 11:15 a.m. Arguello owned a jewelry and antiques store on 38th Avenue. Police said he was shot during a possible robbery.
Police released photos of the suspect's truck. It's described as a red 2003-2007 Chevy Silverado. On Friday, police said they believe officers located the truck.
"Any further information regarding the vehicle or crime scene will not be released to protect the integrity of the investigation," police said on social media. "We appreciate the public's patience as we aggressively investigate this case."
Lori Doyle owns a salon in the same block as the store. She said Arguello was a good friend and knowing he was nearby made her feel safe.
Doyle said she was working with a client when someone told her they heard gunshots coming from Arguello’s shop. Doyle said she ran out her back door to see what was going on and found Arguello lying on the ground. It’s an image, she said, that will continue to haunt her.
After discovering Arguello's body, Doyle said, she immediately called 911.
Anyone with information on the shooting, or images or video, is asked to reach out to Detective Mark Slavsky at (303) 235-2807 or email mslavsky@ci.Wheatridge.co.us.
