WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — Wheat Ridge police have arrested a burglary suspect who they say tried to use an Uber as his getaway car.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department said that on Thursday night, officers responded to a burglary call at Blue Sky Plumbing after a 911 caller saw a hole in the fence and said they had security footage of a man stealing tools.
When officers got there, they spoke with an Uber driver who was waiting in the area. The driver said he was picking up a man named Jose at Blue Sky Plumbing, and his passenger was walking to the car.
Officers intercepted the man, who provided a fake name, and found a backpack containing more than $8,600 worth of tools, according to police.
Police said they took the suspect back to the police department, where fingerprint scanners confirmed his real identity.
The suspect faces a felony theft charge and six misdemeanor charges, according to the police department.
