WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A man was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman Saturday night, Westminster Police said.
Around 8 p.m., police said a caller reported a possible domestic violence incident in the 12000 block of Melody Drive. That's just northwest of the intersection of Interstate 25 and West 120th Avenue.
The caller was able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect vehicle, which left the area before officers arrived.
A short time after sharing the suspect vehicle information with surrounding agencies, Thornton Police received a call about a woman who had been shot in a car in the 12000 block of Colorado Boulevard. The description of the car matched the one given by the original caller.
Officers were not able to locate the vehicle, police said.
Authorities were then given information from a local hospital about a gunshot victim who died from her injuries, police said.
Police identified Jesse Aaron Gladney, 37, as a suspect in the shooting and booked him into the Adams County Detention Facility on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Investigators have been in contact with the driver of the vehicle, and said that charges are not being considered for that person.
The victim was identified by the Adams County Coroner's Office as 36-year-old Valarie Ann Garcia.
