WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A driver hit two pedestrians, killing one of them, and left the scene on Sunday night on West 72nd Avenue in Westminster, according to police.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old suspect, identified as Luis Gerardo Reyes, soon after the crash on suspicion of failure to remain at the scene.

The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of West 72nd Avenue, just east of the intersection with North Federal Boulevard.

Two pedestrians – a 46-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man – were hit by a vehicle that left the scene, Westminster Police said in a news release on Monday.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. The woman died, while the man was in serious condition, police said.

Officers quickly found the suspect vehicle and arrested the suspect. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash, according to police.

The Adams County Coroner's Office will release the name of the woman who died.
