GREELEY, Colo. — A Weld County judge sentenced a 55-year-old man to more than five decades in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting three girls.
Anthony Abreo began his assaults in the late 1990s, the 19th Judicial District Attorney's Office said in a release.
“This man preyed on some of the most vulnerable young girls starting back in 1998,” Deputy District Attorney Yvette Guthrie said. “For years, this monster thought he got away with tormenting these girls, but that ends today.”
The DA's office filed charges related to four named victims in the case. A jury convicted Abreo for assaulting three of the victims, the DA's office said.
Abreo was found guilty of the following charges:
- Sexual assault on a child (one count)
- Sexual assault on a child - pattern of abuse (six counts)
He was sentenced to 54 years to life in prison.
"He’ll no longer have the opportunity to victimize anyone else in our community,” Guthrie said.
