AURORA, Colo. — Two people were taken into custody Friday afternoon after an armed robbery of an Aurora Walmart and a pursuit that ended with a crash.
According to an Aurora Police spokeswoman, there was a report of an armed robbery about 2:45 p.m. at the Walmart at 5650 S. Chambers Road. That's near the intersection with South Parker Road.
Responding officers spotted the robber's vehicle nearby and started a pursuit.
The spokeswoman could not provide exact details about the pursuit. A witness told 9NEWS that at one point, the pursuit was on Airport Boulevard. That witness said he was headed south on Airport Boulevard and was almost hit head-on by a vehicle involved in the pursuit that was going north in the southbound lanes.
The pursuit ended with a crash with another vehicle at East 40th Avenue and Tower Road. No one was injured in that crash. According to the spokeswoman, the robbers tried to carjack another vehicle but officers prevented that from happening. The spokeswoman said they would like to speak with the victim of that attempted carjacking, who was driving a red sedan.
Two men were taken into custody after a short foot chase.
The spokeswoman said the gun used in the armed robbery was recovered.
