DENVER — A video released by Cherry Creek School District shows an incident this month when a registered sex offender tried to grab a child at Black Forest Hills Elementary School.
The school district shared the video with parents during a meeting on Monday.
The incident happened April 19 during fifth grade recess at Black Forest Hills Elementary School on Glasgow Drive in southeast Aurora. Police said a man was outside on school property, walking up to children. Police said it appeared the man "attempted to grab a young boy at one point."
Aurora Police arrested Solomon Galligan, 33, on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping.
In a copy of the video released to 9NEWS, a district employee narrates what is happening. He says the video shows Galligan walking onto school property while kids are on recess. Later in the video, you see a man lunging at a child, and students are running away. The district employee says teachers assistants are off screen. Staff members yell at the man to get off the field.

According to a spokesperson for the school district, CCSD has retrained all Black Forest Hills staff in all safety protocols and added additional district security at the school. They are also adding more security for any outdoor events until the end of the year.
The superintendent reminded all principals in the district to review safety protocols with staff and be vigilant about safety, the spokesperson said.
